Common Song
Planetary future living lab: grounding, prototypes, common action
Forest University, Fruska Gora, Serbia
July 31 - August 3, 2026
We invite you to a three-day future living lab dedicated to acknowledging our planetary situation, exploring future scenarios and the causes that have brought us to this point, and prototyping field methods for working with processes of planetary evolution and healing. The aim isn't another round of shared awareness, but concrete next steps—prototypes, agreements, and projects that people leave with.
We live at a moment of evolutionary transition, when it depends on all of us what the next cycle will be like. The ecological, social, and political crises converging around us are not separate problems waiting for separate solutions — they are symptoms of transformation on all layers of our life. Different actors lead to contradicting futures and the healthy flow of energy and meaning from ancestors through us to descendants is severed by centuries of systemic violence, intergenerational trauma and the exceptionally rapid and destructive pace of global change.

Those of us working on systemic change recognise parts of this fractures intimately. We can describe the elements of the crisis with precision. We can model scenarios, map stakeholders, design interventions. And yet something essential keeps slipping through. The living thread connecting us to what came before and what might yet come — the thread that gives change-work its meaning and its energy — cannot be caught by analysis alone. Nor can a myriad of transitional, regenerative practices be modelled and strategized from afar, without an effort to actually live and practice them.

We are gathering a small group of people who work at the edge of this — NGO leaders, peacebuilders, ecologists, journalists, community weavers, social entrepreneurs — not to produce another strategy, but to do something different: to find together the deeper current that our separate efforts are already serving. What the indigenous traditions would call the song of life. What system thinkers would call the emergent field. What you may simply feel as the calling that drew you into this work before you had words for it.

We invite you to a future living lab - a space of collective awareness and feeling to find visions, meanings, grounded practices, connections and common actions towards futures that serve life – the wellbeing of both human and more-than-human actors.

A new cooperation models are needed: of planetary peacemakers who operate in both spatial and temporal dimensions. People who carry out their work against oppressive structures, towards systemic change and mutual solidarity – be it through small local projects, spiritual practices, community organising or else. How can this work be weaved from a state of profound peacemaking and co-existence, of ecological and social reconciliations, despite of the contradictions, specific positionalities and capacities each of these efforst carry? How to connect the dots we all carry and find an emerging Common Song?

It is not a retreat or a conference but living lab. This means that we will practice our ideas, intentions and prayers through in real living experience: collective cooking, shared care of the space, grounding in place before human-to-human process.
Framework of the event process
  1. Awareness of the present moment, the past processes that led us to this point, and possible future scenarios arising from the current situation
  2. Contact with ancestors and the energy coming from the past
  3. Contact with the next generations of the future, in which life continues and flourishes
  4. Connecting energy flows from the past and future in the present, in our body, consciousness, and heart.
  5. Grounding to actions: working on common projects, weaving connections and planning next real steps.

We are a couple with intertwined life paths - as eco-culturologists, activists, researchers, parents and educators. In this wondrous and wounded world, we dwell at the shaky grounds between critique and care, inspired by all who dare to live otherwise. Apart from being university professors, we have dedicated many years to living, learning and creating in symbiotic, more-than-human and mutually caring ways. We are caretakers of the Forest University, Fruška Gora, a place for counter-hegemonic learning and living.
